Sir Alex Ferguson has been quoted in the media this week as saying it’s the biggest Manchester derby in 25 years… He’s not far wrong! The Man City v Man Unt game next Monday night (30th of April) is huge.
Manchester United are 3pts clear of their city rivals with just three matches remaining in the Premier League fixture list. A win for the red half of the city would send Unt 6pts clear with Swansea (home) and Sunderland (away) standing in the way of the club achieving a record breaking 2oth title.
A stubborn Everton dented United’s hopes in the title race at the weekend in a feverish 4-4 draw at Old Trafford. It breathed life once more into City’s title aspirations, yet, cunningly, Man City manager Roberto Mancini still states that Unt are favourites for the title.
The bookies favour City (just) in the Man City v Man Unt betting odds, which would see City claim 1st place, thanks to a superior goal difference, if they were to overcome Unt on Monday night.
Carlos Tevez has inspired the City comeback and the South American pairing of Tevez and Sergio Aguero has paid dividends at the right time of the season. Momentum seems to be with City, as Unt have stumbled in recent weeks, but experience counts when it comes to winning titles, which is why the bookies fancy Unt to lift the Premier League title despite favouring City to win the derby on Monday night.

This Saturday, sees the National Hunt season come to a close and the big race of the day will be the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown Park. This Grade 3, National Hunt Chase is run over 3 miles and 5½ furlongs and has 24 fences between the 25 entrants and prize money of around £150,000.
Major Malarkey and Galaxy Rock are the current bookies favourites in the Bet365 Gold Cup betting with Major Malarkey briefly ahead ion the ante-post odds.
Last seen, finishing a very close 2nd to Master Overseer, at Uttoxeter in the Betfred Midlands Grand National Chase (4m 1f 110y), Major Malarkey has touched at 8/1 in the Bet365 betting.
Galaxy Rock pulled-up with just 2 to go at the Scottish Grand National last weekend and Jonjo O’Neill 8yr old will aim to show that early form in the National Hunt season which won him the Cheltenham Handicap Chase back in early November.
West End Rocker failed to make it past the 2nd fence at The National this year…Depite this setback the 10yr old settles in nicely at around 10/1. There was a lot of press surrounding West End Rocker and his Grand National abilities after winning the Betfred Becher Handicap Chase (3m 2f) at Aintree in December.
Best of the rest has to be Deep Purple… Granted the 11yr old has yet to finish any of his last two races (he fell at Kempton and pulled up in The National) but he won on this racecourse last time out in the Otkritie London National (3m 5f 110y) back in December. It’s a similar feeling to Merigo one gets, who romped home in the Scottish just last week.
