It's another busy sporting week ahead with plenty of betting opportunities. Our preview looks at the top events taking place over the coming week including a major heavyweight fight for Dillian Whyte.

Anderson Bids to win first PDC World Matchplay Championship

This tournament has been dominated by Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen over the past ten years. Taylor is retired of course and this year sees players attempting to win the Phil Taylor Trophy. It won't be world number one van Gerwen though as he lost in the first round to Jeffrey de Zwaan who beat him 10-5 in the first round.

Former world champion Gary Anderson has never won this trophy or even reached the final but looks to have a good chance this year. His likely quarter final opponent is Daryl Gurney with other seeded players in his half of the draw being Adrian Lewis, Dave Chisnall and Michael Smith.  In the bottom half of the draw, a semi-final clash between World Champion Rob Cross and Peter Wright looks likely.

Burnley Make Europa League Debut

Burnley finished sevenh in England's top league last season just the 46 points behind the champions. With both the cups going to teams in the top four, seventh was enough to take Burnley into Europe for a spell of Thursday night football in the Europa League. They might have spent the summer dreaming of a trip to Spain or France or somewhere in Eastern Europe against a team they'd never heard of, but instead travel to Aberdeen on a Thurxday night (July 26). Sadly one British team won't be making it through to the group stages, though Aberdeen tend to get knocked out before then anyway. Burnley won't find this too easy but are more than capable of getting the win, though it's unlikely to be pretty.

You can get odds of 10/11 on Burnley to beat Aberdeen with Betway (18+, Ts & Cs Apply. Please Gamble Responsibly)

Risky Fight for Whyte

While the talk continues of just when Anthony Joshua will finally meet WBC Champion Deontay Wilder, it's easy to forget that British boxer Dillian Whyte is the number one contender for Wilder's belt. No title fight is on the horizon but now Whyte takes a major risk as he faces former WBO Champion Joseph Parker at the O2 on Saturday July 28.

Parker comes into this fight just a few months after losing his WBO belt to Joshua. A win here will propel him back into the title picture but a second defeat in a row will put his career in big trouble. The same can be said for Whyte who had a good win over Lucas Browne in his last fight but defeat to Parker will end any hope of getting a shot at Wilder or a big money rematch with Joshua. It's one of the most important heavyweight bouts in a while.

Hamilton Bids to Stretch Lead

Lewis Hamilton celebrated his new multi-million pound contract with a win in the German Grand Prix at the weekend. That gave the Mercedes driver the lead in the championship again and he goes to this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix on July 29 with a 17-point lead over Sebastian Vettel. That's rather unexpected after Hamilton started the race in 14th position but Vettel crashed his Ferrari taking him out of the race and Hamilton made his way through the field to get the win. Vettel has won two of the last three Hungarian Grand Prix races but it's Hamilton who has the record of five wins in the race, three with McLaren and two for Mercedes.

Current odds for Sebastian Vettel to win the Hungarian Grand Prix are 37/20 with Unibet (18+, Ts & Cs Apply. Please Gamble Responsibly)
