The Week In Sport Betting Preview : Liverpool love playing Arsenal and Lewis could upset Cormier

Sports Preview
Last Updated : 30th October, 2018 By FREEBets.org.uk

There are some big games this weekend in the Premier League, but no bigger than Arsenal against Liverpool in north London. Meanwhile there are world championships on the line in the UFC octagon and the boxing ring and the Professional Darts Corporation heads to Vienna.

Man City v Fulham – EFL Cup: Thursday 1 November at the Etihad

Manchester City look to continue their quest for global domination when they take on Fulham in the fourth round of the EFL Cup at the Etihad. Things have gone very differently for these two teams so far this campaign, with the Cityzens enjoying near constant success whilst things are going from bad to worse for the Cottagers.

It would seem near impossible for Fulham to come away from Manchester with a win this week given the polar opposite forms of the two sides. However, this will not be the same Man City side that defeated Tottenham on Monday night, nor the one that will return to Premier League action on Sunday. Pep Guardiola will make a number of changes, alterations that will still form a team of internationals most likely, but it will not be a full strength side.

With the shackles of a Premier League relegation battle removed, Fulham will be able to play a bit more freely. City also showed last season that they were vulnerable in this competition – even though they went on to win it. They conceded goals against Bristol City, Leicester and West Brom. Fulham probably can’t win, but they can certainly score against a weakened City side.

Both teams to score looks good value at 5/4 with Unibet

Arsenal v Liverpool – Premier League: Saturday 3 November at the Emirates

The pick of the action over the Premier League weekend sees Arsenal host Liverpool at the Emirates and we should be in for a thoroughly entertaining affair in north London.

In the last five meetings between the two sides there has been two 3-3 results, a 3-3, a 3-1 and a 4-0, so we can pretty safe in assuming there will be plenty of goals in this one. The recent past also points to a good result for the men from Merseyside as Liverpool have not lost in their last six matches against the Gunners.

Indeed, Liverpool are favourites to win this one, despite being away from home. This is fair enough seen as they are yet to lose in the league so far, and their recent performance against Arsenal. But Unai Emery’s side do not die wondering and will give it a good go in the face of Liverpool’s rampant forward line. They have only failed to score in one game this season and that was against Man City.

This should be a cracking contest, one that Liverpool should win, but expect at least some joy for Arsenal.

Liverpool to win and Both Teams to Score looks good at 12/5 with 888sport

Daniel Cormier v Derrick Lewis – UFC 230: Saturday 3 November at Madison Square Garden

A hastily put together main event that sees a champion coming in at short notice as clear favourite against a devastating knockout artist. If ever there was a storyline that is prepped for a massive upset, it is Daniel Cormier v Derrick Lewis at UFC 230.

Less than a month ago, this fight was nowhere near anybody’s minds. Cormier seemed likely to fight Brock Lesnar next year, whilst Lewis was going into a clash with Alexander Volkov on 6 October as the underdog. Lewis fought like the underdog, losing the bout until the last few seconds when he dramatically knocked out the Russian as the clock ticked down.

With UFC 230 lacking a main event, the Black Beast was quickly promoted to title challenger, whilst Cormier was brought in to defend his heavyweight title for the first time with less than a month’s notice.

DC has never lost at heavyweight and is a better mixed martial artist than Lewis in near all departments. The only way he appears to be inferior is size (which will have no bearing on this fight) and power – which may well have an impact.

Lewis has frightening knockout power, which has seen him clean out seven of his last 10 opponents with his fists. He only needs one shot and opponents find it very difficult to stop him doing just that.

There are more ways for Cormier to win this fight, he could stop Lewis, outlast him, or you could even see him picking up a rear naked choke. However, with Lewis possessing a huge weapon in his right hand and being a giant price to employ that weapon, he is worth a punt.

Derrick Lewis to win is huge at 11/2 with Bet Victor

Ryan Burnett v Nonito Donaire – Saturday 3 November at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow

The World Boxing Super Series bantamweight tournament comes to Glasgow on Saturday night as Ryan Burnett takes on Filipino legend Nonito Donaire in the quarter-finals. The Filipino Flash might have the serious edge in experience, but he appears well past his best and the Northern Irishman is coming into this one as the clear favourite.

Burnett (19-0) has had a quiet 2018, but he will be primed to take on a man who has lost two of his last three (38-5) and hasn’t really scored a properly significant victory since knocking out Vic Darchinyan in 2013.

Donaire is only 35, but he is an old 35, with 267 professional rounds behind him compared to Burnett’s 117. His once fearsome knockout power appears to have diminished somewhat, and as Burnett has never even been down in his career, a stoppage seems unlikely, as does the older man being able to outbox Burnett over 12 rounds.

It seems an obvious shout, but we should take the favourite outcome in this one.

Ryan Burnett to win via decision is available at 8/11 with Black Type

World Series of Darts Finals: 2-4 November at the Multiversum Schwechat in Vienna

After a dramatic European Championship, the PDC heads to Vienna for the World Series of Darts Finals, with all the top players looking for momentum ahead of the World Championships.

The European Championship was full of surprises, with James Wade coming through the field to win it, but the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Gary Anderson and Peter Wright are all coming to Austria to put the upsets in the past and restore the order of things.

The man best placed to conquer the field in Vienna is Anderson because he wasn’t part of the chaos in Germany, he wasn’t playing in the European Championship and will be fresh and ready to pounce in the tournament he finished runner-up in last year. Anderson has had a superb year, winning the UK Open, Matchplay and the Champions League, among a number of smaller tournaments.

Being on the opposite side of the draw to Michael van Gerwen is always a handy touch for a player, and it gives the Flying Scotsman a superb chance of reaching the final.

Gary Anderson to reach the final at the World Series of Darts Finals is 5/2 with Sporting Bet
