Midweek saw Bayern Munich get a big win away at Borussia Dortmund and they now lead the German Bundesliga by seven points with six games remaining. Our weekend European preview looks at the top German and Belarus games.

Freiburg v Bayer Leverkusen - Friday 29 May 7.30pm KO

Bayer Leverkusen had been on an 11-game unbeaten run in all competions before losing 4-1 at home to Wolfsburg 4-1. The loss saw them slip down to fifth place in the table and out of the Champions League qualifying positions. They kick off the weekend fixtures and a win will take them up to third. It was a surprise loss on Tuesday as they'd had two good wins since the season resumed. However, they were a goal down at half-time then conceded two goals in four second half minutes and never recovered. Away form is good though with three wins from the last four and nine altogether.

Freiburg are still battling to qualify for the Europa League. Their hopes dipped a bit in midweek though as they could only draw 3-3 at struggling Eintracht Frankfurt. They are in seventh place, one behind the final Europa League qualifying position currently held by Wolfsburg. There's a four point gap now though but it should be just two. Freiburg were 3-1 up at Frankfurt and there were just 11 minutes to go. Frankfurt put in a strong finish though and ended up drawing the game 3-3. It could have been a lot worse if Frankfurt had taken their chances. They had an incredible 35 goal attempts and Freiburg need to tighten up in this game. They haven't been able to win any of their three games played since the season resumed and have been beaten in two of their last three home league matches. Go for an away win here with both teams scoring.

Bayern Munich are closing in on the Bundesliga title after the midweek win at Borussia Dortmund. They are now seven points clear with 40 points out of the last 45. They have won ten of their 14 home league games with the last six all ending in a victory for Bayern. The goals have been flowing on home soil too with ten scored in the last three. This looks another good chance to earn three points and move a little closer to becoming league champions.

Their opponents need points for other reasons. Fortuna Dusseldorf are 16th in the table and if staying there, will have to take on the third place side in Bundesliga II in a relegation play-off. Midweek was good for them though with a 2-1 home win over Schake 04. They had to come from behind to win that game and will love the fact that none of the next eight teams above them in the table won in midweek. Dusseldorf are unbeaten in five league games and the midweek win ended a run of four straight draws. They have only one loss in the last nine which isn't quite the form of a side battling relegation. In fact, a form guide for the last ten games has them in ninth place. Dusseldorf still have a good chance of getting out of trouble but this weekend isn't going to help them. Go for a home win but the chances are the visitors might be able to get a goal too.

No more slip-ups can happen for Borussia Dortmund. They lost that vital home game against Bayern Munich and trail by seven points, which could be ten by the time this game begins.. This is their chance to reduce the gap to four and hope Bayern slip up against Dusseldorf.  After facing the side top of the Bundesliga on Tuesday, Sunday sees them away at bottom-of-the-table Paderborn. Dortmund have won seven of their last eight league games and the last three on the road. 14 have been scored by them in their last five away league games and a few more look likely here.

Paderborn won promotion last season but look destined for an immediate return to Bundesliga II. They are eight points away from a relegation play-off position, a situation made worse when Fortuna Dusseldorf won in midweek. Paderborn drew 0-0 at Augsburg on Wednesday, wasting 15 goal attempts. Home form has been a problem all season with just two wins in 14 with ten defeats. One point from the last five home league fixtures doesn't inspire confidence in them winning this weekend. The tip here is for Dortmund to win, leading at both half and full time.

BATE Borisov v Isloch Minsk - Sunday 31 May - 4pm KO
