As we head into the first Grand Slam of 2019, it seems that top level tennis is stuck in something of a time loop. In fact it appears that the top of the game was been caught in the same cycle for as long as anyone cares to remember. Ahead of the Australian Open this year the favourites to lift the men’s trophy in Melbourne are Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

2018 was a year for the old guard in men’s tennis, whilst it was 18 months of change for the women of the WTA Tour. Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer picked up the Grand Slam titles in the ATP, as they have been doing seemingly forever. However in the women’s game, we finally saw Caroline Wozniacki and Simona Halep lift major silverware whilst Naomi Osaka emerged as a superstar by winning the US Open.
