MLS Free Bets
Now you may not consider the USA to be a hot-bed of football betting action, but with growing exposure of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the UK there are plenty of betting opportunities to be had. For a long time it has been derided as a sub standard league, where Americans scandalously refer to the beautiful game as soccer! However attitudes have slowly but surely started to turn around with the standard of football improving year on year. The impact of the likes of David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Kaka all flocking stateside to ply their trade has only increased the league's profile in recent times and that goes hand-in-hand with growing interest in the betting markets.
With the MLS league season continuing right through the summer months when the European leagues have ended, it provides a much needed compliment of fixtures at a time of more limited action. Here at FREEbets.org.uk we give you all the vital information about claiming your MLS free bets.
MLS 2017 Betting
At the half-way point of the season, Toronto FC are currently leading the way in the Eastern Conference. The side from Canada's most populous city were runners-up in last year's MLS Cup final and have recovered well from that defeat as they bid to go one better this time around. The partnership of Sebastian Giovinco and former Hull and Sunderland flop Jozy Altidore has been potent with the Italian in particular excelling. The capture of former Barcelona midfielder Victor Vazquez has also been key, with the technical ability of the Catalonia clear for all to see and he has been pulling the strings for the Canadians. Chicago Fire and New York City are in close pursuit but as things stand Toronto are the bookies' favourite to win the MLS Cup.
Over in the Western Conference, things are slightly closer with Sporting Kansas City are currently leading the way. The 2015 champions have endured three seasons of mid-table finishes since but now look well placed to challenge once more. The bookies' currently price them at around the 14/1 mark to win the MLS Cup this season though interestingly, FC Dallas are found at a shorter price of 9/1 given they have two games in hand.

Despite the growing popularity of the MLS, the available betting markets are not quite as extensive as with the big European leagues. For example the MLS is one of the few football leagues in the world that does not operate a promotion or relegation structure. Therefore the usually popular relegation market is unavailable and betting largely revolves around the winner of the MLS Cup and Supporters Shield and also the individual match markets.
What are the different MLS betting markets?
Despite the lack of outright options with regards to the league, there are still plenty of MLS betting markets including:
- Match winner
- Double chance
- Goals Over/ Under
- Both teams to score
Betting on the MLS
When you're betting on the MLS, it's well worth taking note of LA Galaxy. The side from the city of angels are five time MLS Cup winners, which is the most of any side. They are nearly always amongst the favourites for the title and also the individual matches they are taking part in. David Beckham, Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole are just some of the well-known names to don the Galaxy jersey in recent years and three of their MLS Cup victories have come since 2011. Recently there have been numerous different champions making it harder to predict the MLS Cup winner. Despite LA Galaxy's status as the most successful side in the division, the market for the MLS Cup winner has been a lot more open in recent years.
Toronto FC are improving year on year and worth considering when using your MLS free bet. Spearheaded by Italian striker Sebastian Giovinco, the Canadian side were runners-up in the MLS Cup final in 2016 whilst Giovinco himself has shone since his arrival from Juventus. He has registered over 30 goals and assists in each of his two seasons so far and with that kind of firepower in their ranks, Toronto are always likely to be in the mix come the season's end. New York City only joined the league in 2015 but they are already a force to be reckoned with. With former Spain and Barcelona striker David Villa up-front and Italian maestro Andrea Pirlo amongst their ranks, they can boast two of the league's most high profile names. With former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira as manager, there is a lot of star quality around the squad and they look set to only improve year on year and it surely will not be long before they are challenging for the title. The league is pretty similar to that of China, in which the interest amongst UK punters is growing due to the influx of higher profile players.
MLS competition format
