England v Switzerland – Tuesday 11 September – 8pm
England return to action on Tuesday night, although their clash with Switzerland is just a friendly rather than in the UEFA Nations League.
The Three Lions were a little unlucky to lose to Spain at the weekend and will be cursing the opportunities they squandered against the 2010 World Champions. After the disappointment and with nothing riding on this game, it may be difficult for the team to motivate themselves against the Swiss. Gareth Southgate will also likely make a few changes to the team seen as it is an opportunity to try out some new faces.
It’s also worth noting that Switzerland are coming off a 6-0 battering of Iceland in the Nations League, so their tails will be up, and will be pumped for a trip to Wembley. However, the Swiss have a pretty dire record against the English with the last 10 meetings resulting in seven wins for England and three draws. However, it would be no surprise at all if there was another draw added to that record on Tuesday night.
England and Switzerland to draw is available at 27/10 with Unibet
Tottenham v Liverpool – Saturday 15 September – 12.30pm
The biggest game of the Premier League weekend sees Tottenham host Liverpool as Spurs look to bounce back from a surprise defeat to Watford whilst the Reds aim to maintain their 100% start to the season.
No team has been able to stop Liverpool yet this season, but it is a little surprising that it has been a solid defence rather than a rampant attack that has seen Jurgen Klopp’s side register four straight league wins. The Reds have scored nine in four, which is the same as Spurs, but they have conceded just one, which is the best in the division.
Liverpool certainly look the better of the two sides on current form, with the inconsistency in Tottenham’s game displayed by their 3-0 win over Manchester United followed by the 2-1 defeat to Watford. However, Spurs are extremely difficult to beat on their home soil, even if it is not where they would like to be playing their home games.
This fixture has ended in a draw in four of the last seven meetings between the sides and that is very much on the cards again. Liverpool will create chances and if they are ruthless then they could pinch it, but the two teams look likely to cancel each other out.
Tottenham vs Liverpool to end in a draw is available at 13/5 with William Hill
UFC Moscow: Mark Hunt v Aleksei Oleinik – Saturday 15 September
It is an historic night for the UFC as the company puts on a show in Russia for the first time and it is home hero Aleksei Oleinik who has the honour of headlining the card in a heavyweight fight with Mark Hunt.
It is Hunt who is the clear favourite with the bookies and it is true that the Super Samoan can knock out any opponent with his monumental punching power. However, he too can be caught, he can be submitted and he can be out-lasted. His MMA record stands at 13-12-1 which is incredible seen as how long he has been a part of the UFC’s top 10 heavyweights for.
Oleinik, in comparison, has won 56 MMA fights as a pro and is always worth backing. If the fight goes the distance we can expect some home bias for the Russian and given that the Boa Constrictor is a submission specialist and fighting a man who has tapped six times before, he has every chance of submitting his foe, especially with that Ezekiel Choke he loves so much.
Aleksei Oleinik to beat Mark Hunt is available at 2/1 with Coral
Gennady Golovkin v Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez – Saturday 15 September
The rematch is finally here, 364 days after the first meeting between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez which ended in a somewhat controversial draw. The majority of observers believed Golovkin won the first fight and a particularly one-sided scorecard in Canelo’s favour caused serious uproar.
In truth, the fight was a very close one and the draw wasn’t as outrageous as some made out. Golovkin was the aggressor for the majority, but the Mexican boxed well and there was an argument for him winning six of the 12 rounds.
Since the first bout, Golovkin has fought once, blasting out Vanes Martirosyan in two rounds in May, whilst Canelo has been serving a doping suspension and has been laid up with injury. You would think that the Kazakh destroyer has had better preparation for this one.
Both men have serious power but neither came close to knocking the other out in the first fight, so we can expect another 12 rounds of enthralling action in Las Vegas. Will either change their game plan to ensure victory this time, or will it be much the same as the first clash? Golovkin is unlikely to change much at all, Alvarez could be more aggressive now he knows he can take Golovkin’s power, but he is unlikely to risk being caught clean by the fearsome puncher.
The rematch will likely be similar to the first fight, but with the judges well aware of the controversy the initial result caused, they will be very much inclined to give this one to Golovkin.
Gennady Golovkin to beat Canelo Alvarez by decision looks a good price at 9/4 with 888sport
Singapore Grand Prix – Sunday, 16 September
Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel go into the 15th race of the Formula One season level on points in one of the most memorable World Championships in years. The Brit and the German are going toe-to-toe whilst the rest of the field struggle to hang onto their coattails.
They head to Singapore this week and the bookies fancy Vettel to pull off the win having won this race four times in the past. However, Hamilton has good memories of the course as well, winning twice before, including last year.
Vettel is the hot favourite at just 6/4, but that makes Hamilton well worth a punt at 7/2 with Betfair, you can even back him each-way to come in the top two which looks nailed-on.
Lewis Hamilton to win the Singapore Grand Prix is 7/2 with Betfair
