Bournemouth v Tottenham Preview : Recovery Mission for Tottenham
Event Venue: The Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth, Sunday 11 March 4pm. Live on Sky Sports.See Stats
Tottenham have to bounce back right away after their loss to Juventus in midweek. Our preview looks ahead to their Premier League gae away to Bournemouth as they look to consolidate their position in the top four.
Bournemouth Looking Over their Shoulders
Bournemouth start the weekend in 12th place in England's top league. That's not a bad position to be in but it's only six points above the drop zone and it could be less by the time this game takes place on Sunday. After this match their next two home games are against West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace so a few points from those games should help get them safe but poor results over the next few games will have them worried of a possible return to the second-tier of English football.
Last week saw them nearly grab three points at Leicester City until a late equalizer. The game before that, it was Bournemouth on the recovery mission coming from 2-0 down at home to Newcastle United to earn a point. Defence is their big problem still. Face it, any side who concedes six goals against Huddersfield and Newcastle aren't that solid at the back. Only once in their last 19 league and cup games have they kept a clean sheet and somehow that was in the 3-0 win at Chelsea, aka exhibit one on why Antionio Conte won't be Chelsea boss next season.
Bournemouth do keep scoring goals though and the last six home games have seen them score at least twice in each of them but the last seven at the Vitality Stadium have also seen them concede at least twice in four of them. Now they have Kane, Alli and Son to deal with so look for a few goals in this game, most likely at both ends.

Back to Basics for Spurs
It all seemed to be going perfectly when Spurs led Juventus 1-0 on Wednesday. Their opponents had to score twice to have a chance of reaching the last eight of Europe's top club tournament and sadly, that's just what happened and Spurs were knocked out. They still have the chance to play a Wembley Cup Final in May and lifting the FA Cup is their only hope of silverware now.
They play at Swansea next week in the quarter finals but before that they head to the south coast as they bid to get that top four finish in the Premier League. Spurs start this weekend five points clear of fifth placed Chelsea who they still have to play away this season. The worst way to end an already disappointing week would be to drop league points at Bournemouth and see the gap between Spurs and Chelsea narrow, assuming the Blues beat Crystal Palace.
Spurs certainly have the striking potential to make life difficult for a Bournemouth side that have already conceded 44 goals this season. Son is on fire at present with five goals in three games and Harry Kane hasn't scored since February 25, so he must be due one soon. It won't be easy but they should be able to get three points here.
Current odds for Heung-Min Son to score first goal are 5/1 with William Hill (18+ Ts & Cs Apply)
Tottenham have to quickly get over the shock of what happened at Wembley on Wednesday.
