The other continents have been eliminated and it's going to be a European team that wins the 2018 World Cup. Our preview looks ahead to the semi-final between France and Belgium.
Pace Can Win the Game for France
France are favourites to win the 2018 World Cup and deservedly so. They have strength in all areas of the pitch and in Kylian Mbappe, they have a player who could well win the Golden Ball in this tournament. His pace is electric and has caused opposing defenders nightmare after nightmare. Throw in a Paul Pogba who seems to play better for his country than for Manchester United in England's top league and Antoine Griezmann, ever the man for the big occasion and you have a team capable of winning this tournament.
They didn't fire on all cylinders earlier in the tournament but did more than enough to qualify. Wins over Argentina and Uruguay showed what a force they can be, though Belgium will be given a bit of confidence by the fact Argentina put three past them. Another big plus for the French side is that they have plenty of experience of going deep into tournaments having reached the final at Euro 2016. They certainly have a great chance of making another World Cup final.

A Final at Last?
Belgium have been on the fringe of winning or at least reaching a major final for a few years now. They are the PSG of international football often looking as if they will win a tournament and then throwing in a poor performance and getting knocked out. It looked as if that was going to happen on Monday when they found themselves 2-0 down in the second-half to Japan. Then they found their top gear and three goals broke Japanese hearts to take them into the quarter-final.
A 2-1 win over Brazil showed just what the Belgians are capable of and they could well beat the French to reach their first ever final in the top tournament in the world. The problem is that while they have great talent in midfield and up front, they don't possess the best of defences. The question has to be asked, if Tunisia and Japan can both put two past them in this tournament, what will happen when they come up against the pace of France?

This should be a great game to watch with both teams hardly likely to be in defensive moods. Both teams have plenty of players who can easily win the game by themselves so predicting a result isn't the easiest of tasks. France have to be considered the favourites mainly because of the damage they can cause Belgium's dodgy defence. This preview concludes the best bet is to go for France to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the match.
