It might have only been 18 months ago, but it seems a long, long tme ago that Leicester were the Premier League champions now. Since then, Manchester City appointed Pep Guardiola with the goal of becoming the very best team in Europe and right now, that's exactly what they look like. However, Leicester's recent form hasn't been too shoddy at all and their recent history against the Citizens means this could be a potential banana skin for the champions-elect.

Runaway City

Nobody can deny just how breathtaking Pep Guardiola's Man City side has been this season. With just eleven games gone, they are already eight points clear at the top of the table and have scored 38 goals in the process, which is over three goals a game. Their vast array of attacking options is what seems to seperate them from the rest; with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus destined to hit 20 goals each this season, that's a force within themselves. However, given Guardiola's system, the likes of Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling have been enjoying their most productive seasons ever and are legitimate goal threats. However, the crown jewel of everything City do is Belgian playmaker Kevin de Bruyne and he has to be considered the form player in the entire Premier League right now. Couple that with the maturity of John Stones at the back and the calming presence of Ederson in goal, and Guardiola has a cocktail for success.

Fighting Foxes

Leicester didn't start the season well and, ultimately, that cost Craig Shakespeare his job. Still, now that Claude Puel is at the helm, the less-than-pleasing-on-the-eye style he employed at Southampton appears to be working wonders at the King Power Stadium. They are unbeaten in their last six outings with three of them victories and they have moved away from the lower end of the table thanks to wins over the likes of Everton and Swansea. It's no surprise that Riyad Mahrez was central to both of those victories and it appears that whenever the Algerian is in the mood, the Foxes can pick up points - it's just hard to know when that is. Jamie Vardy also remains a constant thorn in their opponents' sides with his running in behind and considering City are expected to have a lot of the ball, that could be vital on the counter-attack.

It's hard to look past an unbeaten Man City here. While the idea that Leicester could hit them on the counter-attack has some remnants of logic to it, City are far too powerful going forward for a defence likes Leicester's.
