Liverpool may have lost one of their Fab Four but they are still hopeful of finishing in the top four of the Premier League. They face a big challenge when hosting league leaders Manchester City.

Liverpool Bid to Keep Unbeaten Record

Liverpool are yet to lose at Anfield this season and have only suffered one home league defeat to Manchester City since 1981. Home form has seen them concede just four goals in the league, though they have conceded more than that in their home games in Europe's top club competition.

With Virgil van Dijk now finally signed from Southampton, Liverpool fans will be hoping he'll become the new member of their Fab Four now Phillipe Coutinho has departed for Barcelona. There are still some injury worries over Mo Salah and it's important he makes the starting line-up if Liverpool are to have a chance of getting a win in this game that will help keep them in the top four.

Liverpool have won their last two home league games but before that had drawn three in a row, all of those games having under 2.5 goals scored in them.  When top sides play at Anfield, there aren't too many goals being scored unless it's Arsenal who come visiting. Home matches against Spurs, the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea have seen under 2.5 goals scored in the last eight games so a tight match looks on the cards here.

Harder for City this Time

The reverse fixture between these two sides saw Manchester City beat Liverpool 5-0 at the Etihad but the league leaders will find this a lot more difficult as they travel to Anfield. That 5-0 win came in a game where Sadio Mané was sent off so as long as Liverpool can keep all 11 men on the pitch, another thrashing isn't on the cards.

City start the weekend 15 points clear at the summit of England's top league and 18 clear of Liverpool.  There have been a few close shaves in recent weeks and but for a missed last minute penalty at Crystal Palace, City wouldn't still be in with the chance of going through the Premier League season unbeaten. Before that they had to make comebacks to get wins against Huddersfield and West Ham so these supposed 'invincibles' might not make it undefeated until the end of the season.

The draw at Selhurst Park lost them their 100 percent away record but the goals don't always flow in great quantities when they travel to top sides. With Liverpool being strong at home, don't look for this to be another one of City's runaway wins.

Current odds for Manchester City to beat Liverpool are 5/4 1-1 with Paddy Power Prediction

Liverpool keep a tight ship at Anfield with only four league goals conceded this season and that's before the arrival of their new superstar. Their opponents also rarely concede on their travels and this preview concludes that you can use your free bet to go for under 2.5 goals being scored in this match.
