Manchester United v Sevilla Preview : United to Progress
Event Venue: Old Trafford, Tuesday 13 March 7.45pm. Live on BT Sport 2.See Stats
Manchester United came away from Spain with a goalless draw in Sevilla and that puts them in a strong position to reach the last eight of the Champions League. Our preview looks ahead to the second leg at Old Trafford.
United in Form
A 2-1 home win over Liverpool at the weekend not just strengthened United's chances of finishing second in England's top league but must give them a massive confidence boost. United probably like beating Liverpool more than getting a win over Manchester City and they will go into this game with their heads held high, especially Marcus Rashford after his two goals on Saturday.
Jose Mourinho took some stick after the way his team earned a goalless draw in the first leg but it puts them in a good position to progress considering their strong home form and the poor away form of the opposition. United are unbeaten in their last five league and cup games and have won their last five home games and three clean sheets in the last five at Old Trafford. Keeping another clean sheet is going to be important here especially if their strikers don't have a good night. They should have enough amunition to win this game and what's the odds if they do reach the last eight, they end up with a tie against Liverpool or Manchester City.

Away Form the Worry for Sevilla
Sevilla probably know that they blew their best chance of qualifying by not getting a lead from the first leg. The Spanish league side are fifth at present but 11 points behind the top four so if they want to be playing in Europe's top club tournament, then they will most likely have to win it. The Spaniards tend to do much better on Thursday nights having won the Europa League three times in a row iin recent years but their away form often sees them found out at the highest level.
Already this season they have lost 5-1 at CSKA Moscow, where United won 4-1. League form in Spain has seen them lose eight times and it's hard to see them getting a result here having never won a Champions League game in England. Their big hope is if they can get an away goal and scoring first in this match would totally change it with United then needing to score twice after failing to get an away goal. If that doesn't happen though, the pressure to get on the scoresheet will grow and grow and with Sevilla's poor away record, that's not a promising position for them to be in.
