Both of Manchester United and Stoke are two teams on bad runs, but they have a chance to get back on track against each other on Monday night. United have won their last two games, but they were winless in four before that and find themselves 14 points behind local rivals Manchester City in the title hunt. Stoke have recently sacked former Manchester United striker Mark Hughes as their manager and they currently sit in the relegation zone. Having lost their last three in a row, they need a win and fast.

Jose's pressure

You don't need to be a genius to work out that Jose Mourinho cuts a frustrated and, perhaps unhappy figure at Old Trafford right now. Draws with Leicester, Southampton and Burnley has cost United six points in the title race and if they had a hope of catching City, they couldn't afford to be dropping points in those games. Without Paul Pogba, they don't function in the same way but with the Frenchman in the side - as seen away to Everton - he brings out the best in other players around him. Jesse Lingard is in the form of his life right now and can't stop scoring. His movement and finishing is actually very similar to that of an in-form Dele Alli right now and if Romelu Lukaku can find his golden touch again, United can start steamrolling their opponents once more. But, they have to find that fluidity.

Post-Mark Hughes

Mark Hughes had a good crack at converting Stoke into a footballing side. He brought players in like Xherdan Shaqiri, Bojan, Jese and Ibrahim Afellay and tried to change the culture of the club that has been stable under Tony Pulis, and to be fair, he made them a top-half club. However, they appeared to reach their ceiling and with signings like Saido Berahino and Gianni Imbula failing to prove value for money - not to mention nearly £20 million on Kevin Wimmer - the gambles Hughes took ultimately did not pay off. The final straw was Stoke exiting the FA Cup at the hands of League Two Coventry and that came just a week after they fell at home to Newcastle and Hughes had rested the troops against Chelsea, which they also lost. Can a fresh start be just what the club needs?

FREEbets.org.uk Prediction

Stoke drew 2-2 with United earlier this season and were the first side to take points off the Red Devils, but that seems like years ago now. The squad is so unbalanced it's hard to imagine how they'll even attack United. The quality Jose Mourinho has at his disposal should overwhelm a recovering Stoke side.
