The chase to win the Premier League has been a bit of a one-horse race from the start and could conclude this weekend. Our preview looks at the most important games at the top and bottom of the table as Manchester City bid to win the title with a home win over Manchester United.

Everton v Liverpool - Saturday 12.30pm

A busy week for Liverpool concludes with the Merseyside Derby. After the excitement of facing Manchester City in Europe's top club competition, they have the Saturday lunchtime game as they bid to get the better of their local rivals. Liverpool are still trying their hardest to get second place in the Premier League and a win here will take them a point clear of Manchester United but from two games more. With United at City this weekend, they will see this as the chance to close the gap on their rivals.

This is the third time the two sides have met this season. Everton got a league draw at Anfield but lost there in the FA Cup and have now gone 16 games without a win against Liverpool with their last win being in 2010. Last week saw them beaten 3-1 at home by Manchester City and they have a terrible record against sides at the top of the table. Look for that to continue this weekend as Liverpool get the win.

Manchester City v Manchester United - Saturday 7 April 5.30pm

The fixture list works its magic and Manchester City get the chance to get bragging rights over Manchester United and win England's top league at the same time. City will have that tough trip to Anfield in midweek but will be up for this game like no other this season. They are in top form as ever dominating possession in games and are yet to lose a home game in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United had a decent win over Swansea City last weekend and still have a good chance of finishing second and winning the FA Cup. Their title challenge has been better than in recent years but they are still 16 points adrift of the top of the table and still have a ton of work to do if they want to win the title again for the first time since the days Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge. Away form has cost them dearly this season and they have lost two of their last three away league games and had to come from behind to beat Crystal Palace in the other. This game looks destined to complete the coronation of the champions.

Arsenal v Southampton - Sunday 8 April 2.15pm

It's beginning to look bleak for Southampton down at the bottom of the table and a return to the second-tier of English football could be imminent. Last weekend saw a heavy defeat at West Ham and a similar result looks on the cards at the Emirates. The Saints start the weekend two points from safety but have just one win in their last 18 league games and that was at bottom of the table West Brom. They have scored just one goal in their last five league games and away from home have one win in the last 13. This is what happens when you sell your best players and fail to replace them adequately.

Arsenal are on Europa League duty three days before this game but that's at home, so no long trip back to England. They are in a bit of a mini-revival at present but as is often the case with them, just getting good wins over poor sides and here comes another one to get three more points.
