Tottenham are fifth in the Premier League and again in a position where they can challenge for a top four finish. Our preview looks ahead to their home game with an Everton side that are starting to slip again in recent weeks.

Top Four Challenge Continues

After that terrible run in November and early December, Tottenham are again in a good position to finish in the top four. They are only three points behind Liverpool who may well drop points this weekend against Manchester City.  The last eight league games have only seen them lose once and that was at the league leaders.

The pressure is on Tottenham though, as the rumours circulate of Harry Kane perhaps being on his way to Real Madrid. The whole atmosphere around the club would change if they could just win a trophy. They really should put everything into getting a home match at Wembley in May that just happens to be the FA Cup final. The supposed Wembley hoodoo doesn't exist really, not when they have only lost one home league game all season and that was their first one against Chelsea.  No ridiculous fixture list now and if Kane is fit, Son continues his good form and Alli can stop his form diving, then they can have a strong second half of the season, starting with a win here.

Everton Not Safe Yet

Everton are up to ninth in England's top league and that usually doesn't mean the word relegation gets mentioned. The next few weeks are going to be vital for the Toffees. Some good results could put them in with a shout of some Thursday night football next season, hopefully better than this year's dismal Europa League campaign. Some bad results could yet mean they have to worry about their first ever relegation to the second-tier of English football. Added on to all of that of course is another hectic month of wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.

The summer spending spree was supposed to see Everton challenging for the top four. This time they have already sold Ross Barkeley and done what they should have done during the summer in signing a top striker in the form of Cenk Tosun.  He needs to find his feet in English football quickly as Everton are only seven points above the bottom three. They have gone five league and cup games without a win, losing the last three and not scoring in the last two. After this match, home games against West Brom and Leicester are going to be vital before a trip to Arsenal. Getting at least a point at Wembley is important to stop the rot and silence those who are already starting to moan about the negative tactics of Sam Allardyce.

Current odds for Everton to beat Tottenham are 25/2 with 10Bet Prediction

Tottenham are putting the so-called Wembley Hoodoo to one side with a string of good performances. They host an Everton side who are again having a busy transfer window but need to settle down quickly as they need league points. This preview believes Tottenham can get a home win in this match.
